Sausage rolls are one of the best things you can do so simple snacks or party plates. They can be made, cooked and eaten in 30 minutes or less. I remember when we all when to the England. My husband said that one of the best things to eat when you are in a hurry is a sausage roll. So we landed and the next thing i know my husband had a hot sausage roll in his hands.
I was a little hesitate its just meat and pasty. Whats so grate about it i asked him... "try it and see" said my hubby. OMG what have i been missing out on.
So yes its 3 ingredients but they work so well together. so here is my resapy for simply the best sausage roll in kl
1 pack of Lily's homemade sausages any flavor you like ( i personally go for herbs or Royal British Banger)
500g pack chilled puff pastry
1 large egg, beaten
Preheat the oven to 200C, gas 6. Press the sausage meat out of the skins and into a bowl. On a lightly floured work surface lay down one sheet of puff pasty. Take a small hand full of the sausage meat and place it down in the center of the pasty. You whan it to take up harf the space of the pastry. This will allow you to fold and crimp it easily.
Wet the eage of the pasty and fold over one side to the othere. Try and press out any air that might be there. but dont press the sides down as we whan it to let any air out. Now take a fork and press down all the eages. This will seal the sausage and stop them opaning up when baked. place it down on a backing try lined with some backing sheet. and keep repiting till you have used up all the meat.
Take the egg and crack it into a bowl and use the fork to mix it up. If you have a pasty brush use that to brush the egg all over the sausage rolls. If not you can get the kids in here to use the hands and rub it all over the pastry. (or a spoon works to and its a lot cleaner).
place your tryas into the oven and cook for 15/20 mins. thay should be golden brown and very puffy. take them out and let them cool down for 5 mins. Thats if you can leave them allown for that long.
